TRANEXAMIC ACID
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic used to reduce or prevent hemorrhagic episodes, especially in the context of hyperfibrinolytic disorders.It possesses a similar mechanism of action to aminocaproic acid but is approximately 10-fold more potent.
Taken orally, tranexamic acid is indicated for the treatment of hereditary angioedema, cyclic heavy menstrual bleeding in premenopausal females, and other instances of significant bleeding in the context of hyperfibrinolysis.
MEFENAMIC ACID
Mefenamic acid belongs to the anthranilic acid derivative class of NSAIDs . Like other NSAIDs, mefenamic acid is a cyclo-oxygenase (Cox-1 and -2) inhibitor and blocks the production of intracellular prostaglandins that are important in pain and inflammatory pathways.
Mefenamic acid has analgesic as well as antipyretic and antiinflammatory activities, but is used largely for treatment of pain.
Mefenamic acid is indicated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate acute pain or dysmenorrhea, painful conditions such as arthritis, pain associated with heavy menstrual bleeding and pain after surgical operations.
